Laya Gharechallu, a research student in Applied Chemistry at the University of Maragheh, won the gold medal at the 5th International Invention Competition in Geneva 2025 for designing an educational and play-based device for children, especially those with autism.
According to the PR Department of the University of Maragheh, this year’s competition was held virtually with the participation of over 1,000 projects from 27 countries. Ms. Gharechallu, a student of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, succeeded in attracting the judges’ attention in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, earning first place in this international scientific event.
Explaining the features of her invention, she said: “This educational tool is designed to help children with autism learn basic concepts such as numbers, colors, and other fundamental skills in an engaging and understandable way.”
Ms. Gharechallu had previously received the silver and bronze medals in the fourth and third editions of the same competition in 2024 and 2023, respectively, and became a member of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) in 2022.
The International Invention Competition in Switzerland is organized under the supervision of the IFIA and grants the official title of “Inventor (INV)” to qualified participants.
